As Chairman of Ross-in-Bloom I wondered if any of your readers would like to help with an appeal to help with the National Campaigns for the coming year of local entries into Heart of England and Britain in Bloom please.
Ross-in-Bloom held their Presentation Evening last week and one of the guests mentioned that Morrisons were giving away Gardening Vouchers with grocery sales at the moment.
It was decided by all present that as John Kyrle High School Gardening Club had worked very hard and achieved an award in the Britain in Bloom campaign this year the students deserve all the help they can get a bigger and better one next year.
Therefore it was decided unanimously that everyone present who shopped at Morrisons would collect their vouchers for the young gardeners for equipment seeds, etc.
I was wondering if anyone out there who is not collecting them for their own children or grandchildren could perhaps help us to collect as many as we can for JKHS Gardeners. Students who prefer to work with their hands tend the garden and this past year they have made tremendous strides by building their own greenhouses and sheds. They have managed to plant seeds and sell their own produce to fund more plants and equipment.
We all felt this would be a worthwhile group to utilise this type of “giveaway”.
If you would like to contribute your vouchers I am collecting them in my shop (Lucas Motorcycles) in Brookend Street or Mary Powell will be happy to collect them at the Heritage Centre.
Just pop them in an envelope marked Ross-in-Bloom and they will get to us and eventually to the school.
Thank you all for your help towards what we feel is this very worthwhile cause. Something like this will go a long way towards their marks in Britain in Bloom next year as part of their community involvement and volunteer categories in the financial section.
