Lovers of the great outdoors in Ross-on-Wye are being encouraged to put their best foot forward and join in a special walking festival organised for next month.
The festival, which has been organised by Herefordshire Council, features walks of between one and 12 miles in length and are designed to suit walkers of all ability levels.
A number of special interest walks will feature in the week-long event which takes place between June 14 and 22.
The first walk, entitled Boatmen, Beetles & Butterflies will take place on Saturday, June 14, from 2pm until 4pm. It is a one-mile walk being led by Ross Wild Connections and is suitable for children of all ages.
The second, Birds of Garway Hill, is a 4.5 mile walk around the slopes of Garway Hill on Friday, June 20, from 9am until 12.30pm, where walkers can look out for and listen to the birdlife and people taking part are encouraged to bring along binoculars for the best sights.
Jane Lewis, Herefordshire Council’s cultural services manager, said: “The walking festival is a great celebration of the wonderful countryside we have in the county. We want as many families as possible to enjoy this countryside and enjoy some fun activities as well. We hope they will take advantage of these walks.”
