Business as usual during hold-ups   31/03/2008

Reproduced from the Ross on Wye Journal, 26th March 2008
Motorists in Ross-on-Wye will be disrupted by road closures over the next few weeks while water mains are renewed and refurbished.

Herefordshire Council say the works are essential to improve the quality of water supply in Ross.

The roads affected are: Smallbrook Road for two weeks from April 7, Chase Road closed for one week from April 21, Copse Cross Street and High Street (part) for two weeks from April 28, and Station Street and High Street junction closed for three days from May 12.

Councillor Brian Wilcox, Herefordshire Council’s cabinet member for highways and transportation, said: “We’ve been working closely with businesses to ensure the road closures are kept to a minimum. Access to frontages will remain open as will access to car parks. Ross-on-Wye will be very much open for business during these works and we ask people to bear with us and help keep traffic flowing by following diversions.”

Welsh Water capital manager Peter Childs said: “This scheme is vital to ensure that our customers continue to receive a top quality and reliable supply of water.”
