Celebrating 10 years of Ross Market House Heritage Centre   05/03/2007

Ross Heritage Centre is celebrating 10 years of exhibitions and events on 14th April 2007.

To mark this very special occasion, the centre will be putting on displays to cover a selection of the nearly 100 exhibitions they have held during that time. It will also be the 50th anniversary of the visit of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 24th April, and there will be a special display of the photographs taken on that historic day.

The exhibition will open on Tuesday 13th March, and will run until Tuesday 8th May. To mark the actual date of opening the doors to the public, and to give all ages the chance to have a good look at the exhibition there will be an open house with tea and coffee on Saturday 14th April from 10.30am to 12pm. It is hoped as many people as possible will be able to come and have the opportunity to discuss their favourite exhibitions from the past as well as what they would like to see in the future.

The Heritage Centre has always worked closely with the community with their events and exhibitions.

To further this the Crafts Staff will be running an Activity Day for all on Tuesday 11th April where participants will be able to “Make a Spring Garden from Junk”. This links in with the Ross-in-Bloom children’s competition this year and everyone who takes part can get an idea on how to build a garden on a tray to win the shield and certificates for 2007. This is a drop-in free activity and will take place between 11am and 3pm. Children must be accompanied.

On Thursday 12th April Hereford Education Team will be holding an Activity Day for all - “Animals from the Wild Wood”. Woodland animals from the museum collection will be on display with craft activities based on the “Wind in the Willows”. This is a free drop-in activity from 10am to 12.30pm. Children must be accompanied.

For more details on any exhibitions, events or activities at Ross Market House Heritage Centre telephone (01432) 260675 between the opening hours 10.30am - 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday until 31st March. From 1st April open daily, 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, 10.30am to 4pm Sunday. The centre is closed for lunch between 1pm and 1.30pm daily, if there are no relief staff members available.
