Ross Town's Hellenic League Division 1 West match away to Cricklade Town, on Saturday 25 th, was postponed owing to a waterlogged pitch; a fate suffered by all but two games in the Hellenic League. This was particularly disappointing because, following a very poor start to the season by Town's first team, reorganisation within the club had enabled a strong squad had been assembled for the game
Ross Town are very pleased to be able to report that they have entered into a sponsorship deal with Cartwright Windows whose managing director, Lee Cartwright, was quoted as saying “ Although Cartwright Windows is no longer based in Ross, having recently re-located to Mitcheldean, we as a company are delighted to continue to give support to Ross Town Football Club “.
Ross Town will shortly be announcing a further sponsorship deal with a local company, details of which will be tied up within the next few days, and hopefully reported on next week.
Reorganisation is taking place within the club; a new manager is being sought, following the resignation of Alex Brown. Ross Town wishes to acknowledge the contribution made by Alex and thanks him for his efforts at the club. Applications for the post of manager, and for places on the main committee, are being invited. Anyone interested in joining the club are asked to phone Geoff Jones on 01989 769073 in the first instance.
Training sessions are being held at Gloucester Leisure Centre [ all nearer facilities at Newent and Monmouth being fully booked, and there being no adequate facilities in Ross ] and any player wishing to join in training should contact Club captain Spud Jenkins on 07973890480 or Adam Bridges on 07979313177.
The development of the Sports Centre is still a high priority and the Club will soon be meeting with the Herefordshire Council to discuss the way forward. The Football Foundation has expressed their support to back a bid for around £300,000.00 investment in Ross, subject to around 10% match funding from the Club. At present costings are being obtained for the re-surfacing of the car park and for the addition of more changing facilities, extra to what the club has planning approval for, in order to enable more than 2 matches [ soccer, rugby, whatever ] at a time to be played at the Sports Centre.
Next Saturday, 2 nd December, Town are at home to Pewsey Vale in the Hellenic League Division 1 West, ko 2.15pm, followed by further home games to Old Woodstock Town on December 9 th , and Purton on December 16 th .
