Ross Heritage Centre has something for everyone over this year’s summer holidays.
The annual exhibition of the John Kyrle High School art exam work is up and running. Structures shows work by both the GCSE and A Level students and will run until August 14.
From August 18-30 the Botanical Illustrators will exhibit work from their weekly classes. This is the first time the group will have exhibited this way. Tutor Mary Brewin can enrol new students during the show.
During carnival week, July 29 to August 5, there will be a small exhibition of photographs of Carnivals Past.
Each week during the summer there will also be an event for children. On Wednesday, July 26 Buzzy Bee Books runs from 10am to 12.30pm when participants will be able to make their own storybook.
Young visitors will be able to make clown masks on Tuesday, August 1 between 11am and 3pm – ideal for carnival day.
A guided 2.5 hour walk to some of the historic sites in Ross is on Thursday, August 3. Assemble at the Heritage Centre by 2pm. The cost is £2 per person towards carnival funds, free for those aged 11 and under, who must be accompanied.
On Wednesday, August 9, visitors can make musical instruments from junk from 10am to 12.30pm
Butterflies will fly around on Tuesday, August 22 between 11am and 3pm before Bizarre Bugs and Fantastic Flowers on August 30 from 10am to 12.30pm. Visitors will be able to make their own wildlife to take home.
On August 28, the Mobile Museum on the Move will make its first visit to the Market House this year from 10am to 5pm, with a new exhibition It’s Good To Talk.
On August 22 the Heritage Centre joins forces with Ross-in-Bloom to support Ross Pre-School Playgroup’s family treasure hunt. Full details will be published nearer the time.
All events are free except the guided walk and treasure hunt. There is no need to book and children must be accompanied. There is lift access.
