Reserves match report 04/10/2008
Ross Town reserves were at home to Pegasus colts in league two on Saturday. Ross entered the game with only 11 fit and available players due to other commitments and players just not turning up on the day.
Both teams started well with play flowing from end to end on a quick greasy pitch. Ross Town took the lead when a fantastically struck Cookie Carr free kick, from 20 yards out, rebounded off the cross bar into the path of Liam Parry who calmly turned and despatched the ball into the Pegasus net. Ross began to dominate the game with Pegasus barely managing an effort on the Ross goal.
Town doubled their advantage with a well-deserved second goal when Paul Greenhill struck a superb half volley past the Pegasus ‘keeper. Pegasus was reduced to 10 men mid way through the first half for foul and abusive language.
Town tried hard to make use of their numerical advantage passing the ball well but were unable to add to the score line before half time. After the interval Pegasus battled hard even though they were a man down, they played some good football and at times put Ross on the back foot.
Town finally put the game to bed when another Cookie Carr free kick rebounded off the Pegasus ‘keeper to the feet a well-placed James Innes who duly extended Towns advantage. Town looked strong for the remaining period of the match until Pegasus was gifted a consolation goal following a mistake in the Ross defence.
The match finished 3-1 to Ross, which was a fair and well earned result with the attitude and determination of the whole team drawing much praise. The Security Alarm Services men of the match were Cookie Carr and Paul Greenhill who both bossed the midfield.
